Without the experience of network marketing, I would’ve been perfectly content living my life just sharing myself with my own circles of friends. As a business model, though, network marketing inherently relies on successful leaders sharing and demonstrating their best practices.
As a self-identified introvert, I have to admit the process of opening up was a little uncomfortable at first; but I quickly adapted to providing a window into what I was doing because I deeply wanted to see my team excel in the same ways I have. Not only that, I pushed myself to really tap into the thoughts behind my actions. Once I could share with people why I did or said certain things, I was more readily able to develop a culture of authenticity. This meant others could duplicate my methods using their own strengths, not just copy my words and behavior.
Coming from a baseball family, I’ve always appreciated the level playing field that direct sales offers its players. Once you realize the magic of the business model, you understand that advantages don’t come from certain personality traits, but from all personality traits. We all have life experiences that make us valuable in supporting and serving others. We’re just not used to bringing so much of ourselves into “work.”
